Our deepest fear

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.

When I first read this I thought it was STUPID.  Why the F would we be scared of the good things about us? Then I started thinking.. How many times have I acted dumb just to satisfy other people? How many times have I known the answer in class but didn't raise my hand? How many times have I felt embarrassed because I actually liked a class and was good at it? How many times have I written something and erased it cuz I thought it was "too serious" or it looked like I "tried too hard".

Whoever wrote this was a freaking GENIUS  its easy to write "I'm scared to fail",  but are we? Failing is too easy, getting bad grades is too easy, not trying hard is too easy. we all say we are  scared of these things, then why do we keep doing it??  Why don't we do the things we love and show off how good we are at it? Why don't we shoot up our hands in class when we KNOW the answer? The craziest part of all this is that I'm just thinking of all the things that I'm holding back because I'm scared, I have no IDEA what everyone else is holding back. MIND BLOWN.  Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.
